Youtube/editing.

I've only got one video up on my main channel so far (the audio is pretty rough, but in terms of editing alone, I think it turned out quite well), but YouTube is definitely something I want to pursue in some form eventually, and I am quite happy with how my assets for the channel turned out, so I figured I'd show them here.

The basis of the main channel, noahcbs, is to repair, restore, and/or review retro tech that piques my interest (check out Techmoan and Jeremy Parish for an idea of the kind of things I'd like to do. I could list some more of my inspirations and am tempted to, but those two should be fine to give you enough of an understanding). I probably won't stray too far from that niche, but I probably will make an exception for things I'm genuinely extremely passionate about.

Anyway, I guess here I should start with the channel logo. The font used is a mixture of those from the Mother/Earthbound series, and I think the relationship between the channel name and the chosen sprite (from Kirby and the Amazing Mirror) should be reasonably obvious, but if not, search the term "cbs". Though technically not for YouTube, below the logo you can see the version I made for the tab icon on this site, which is part of my branding, at least (and I may end up using it for the channel watermark anyway).

Next up is the intro. It's based on the intro for the Virtual Boy game "Teleroboxer" (look it up if you're interested in how the game's actual logo compares to mine), and there are two versions: a long, and a short. The one on the left is the full version, and one I'll probably only use if I do a video on Teleroboxer itself in the future (maybe if I ever hit 100k subs). The one on the right is the version I'll actually use in most of my videos, and the idea would be to have the black background for the first second until the logo (made by "VirtuousRage"; his website here) comes in. Then, I'd overlay it on footage of the video's subject. See the intro logo by itself beneath the videos.

Continuing on with the banner, I think sometimes it can be difficult for channels to make one that properly encapsulates the feeling and concept behind a channel, but I personally think I did pretty good job communicating what I want my channel to be with mine. You can see below what it'll look like on computers, and on mobile it should look similar (just with less space on the left and right; see template for specifics).

The template actually gives dimensions for TVs too, so I thought it would be cool to do something a little quirky for that since if you're watching YouTube on a TV, you're probably only watching creators you already know, and probably not going onto their channel directly. As far as I can tell, though (by testing on various TVs around the home), none of them display past the desktop dimensions... so I'm really not sure what it's for and, at least as far as I'm aware, this is the only place that you'll be able to see it in full, below the template.

In case it wasn't obvious, I didn't create any of the sprites used in the banner. When making the it, I collected sprite sheets from games/series I enjoy, ripped sprites I thought would fit, and then assembled them into the above.

The last thing I have to show for the main channel is also the biggest: the outro. I spent a lot of time editing this since my original shoot had issues with lighting (I was shooting at night, of course, and the lights I used fluctuated throughout the recording). Even the shoot itself was a reasonably big thing to me at the time since I did two test takes for it (which probably should have caught the lighting issue, but oh well), and also had to restructure the room for it. On the left, you can see the outro without any colour grading to fix the lighting. In terms of editing otherwise, it's mostly the same as the graded version, but there are a few other small differences. The colour graded version is on the right, and is essentially what I use for my videos, minus a part near the end that I had to (tastefully) oscure to please auto content match (aka Content ID; you can see what I created to put over it below the outro versions). The idea behind it was to be pretty chilled out for the people who choose to stay and watch, but also invoke a sense of nostalgia or even slight bittersweetness. I'll probably have credits running over the Outro in some fashion eventually, whether that be YouTube members (or something similar), and maybe for anyone who had helped out with a particular video as well - but at least for now, this isn't really something I have to consider too heavily. Everything for the Outro was done in Premiere Pro, but in the future it may benefit me to diversify my workflow (and get a new computer too, because working on a 2013 laptop with a screen that only works at acute angles can be less than fun).

And that's it for the main channel stuff! Of course, everything is subject to some degree of change (I think the short intro, for example, could possibly be made a bit longer), but I'm proud of everything I've made so far, and I've got a lot of content planned for the future, too. As you may have inferred, though, I do still have a little more to show you.

Other channels, and beyond.

Channel 5 doesn't exist yet, but will be where I can focus more on the software side of the gaming tech I cover on my main channel. I'd probably do reviews akin to AVGN, or similar channels, but I'd try to find my own style, and maybe be at least a little less skit-centric. I'd like to stream as well since I like the idea of having some fan interaction (and the thought of making playthroughs in the modern climate makes me cringe a bit), so I'd either throw in stream reuploads here as well, or alternatively, I could make (yet) another channel for that stuff and have someone else run it, since that seems to be a simple solution that works reasonably well nowadays.

cbs extra is for whatever else I want. Edits of films and music I enjoy (we'll see how nicely copyright plays with that stuff), collaborative videos with creators that inspire me (yes, on the "third channel"), behind the scenes stuff, and maybe even some Pokémon card openings, etc. - this will be my creative outlet outside the main channel, and anything goes. I have two videos on it currently, and the youtube button on this page will take you to it (instead of the main channel, as with the other pages). First up is the logo, with an animation I made for one of the videos below.

Finally, here's the banner for cbs extra. Simple and straight to the point, but also a bit playful too, which I hope represents the looser concept nicely; and below that, a sort of closing statement for the site.

And that's it for... well, everything this time. Since this paragraph acts as a sort of conclusion to the whole site, if you want to, go take a look at the other pages before you read this. I realise this page is in the middle of the nav-bar, but since this is both the page I finished coding last, and also the most important to me, I felt it was best to do this here. While I (of course) love some of the other work I've shown on the other pages, this is the only one where I feel like I'm sharing something quite personal; a part of my hopes and dreams for the future, you could say. Anyway, I put a lot of effort into making everything you've seen, and assembling it here as well, so thanks for taking a look at my website and work. I really do hope you've enjoyed your time spent on my little corner of the internet.

Again, if you'd like to contact me, you can find my socials below, and if instead of messaging you'd prefer to give me a call, you can do that specifically via Discord.

Thanks for browsing,

noahcbs.
